How we help after a car accident

After a serious wreck, you are dealing with pain, medical appointments, time off work and calls from insurance adjusters, all at once. From the day you hire us, we take the claim off your plate so you can focus on recovering:

  • Investigate the crash and prove the other driver’s negligence
  • Preserve evidence, including crash reports, witness statements, video footage and photographs
  • Help you get the medical care your injuries need
  • Handle your property damage claim with the insurance companies
  • Gather the medical records and bills that document your injuries
  • Negotiate with insurance adjusters on your behalf
  • File suit on time to protect your rights
  • Take depositions and handle discovery
  • Retain expert witnesses when your case needs them
  • Prepare for trial, and go to court when the insurance company will not make a fair offer

What to do after a wreck in Baton Rouge

  1. Call 911 and get medical attention, even if your injuries seem minor.
  2. Get names and contact information from the other drivers and any witnesses.
  3. Photograph the vehicles, the scene and your injuries.
  4. Report the crash to your own insurance company, but do not give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurer before you get advice.
  5. Call us before you sign anything or accept a settlement.

  • Traumatic brain injuries, including concussions and post-concussion syndrome
  • Broken bones and fractures
  • Shoulder, hip and knee injuries

  • Abrasions, lacerations and burns
  • Internal organ damage
  • Nerve injuries and permanent disabilities
  • Disfiguring injuries

What compensation may cover

Economic damages. Injured people may be able to recover past, current and future medical expenses, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, lost employment benefits, property damage and other accident-related expenses.

Non-economic damages. These “general damages” account for what was taken from you, such as pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, and loss of consortium or companionship.

Every case is different. We will talk with you about what your claim may involve once we understand what happened.

Every case prepared for trial

Most car accident cases settle, but we prepare every case from day one as if it will go to trial. That preparation is what puts your case in the strongest position, whether it resolves at the negotiating table or in front of a jury. And from your first call, you will be working with David or Michael, not passed along to someone you have never met.

Common questions

Car Accidents: questions we hear

How long do I have to file a car accident lawsuit in Louisiana?

For injuries on or after July 1, 2024, Louisiana generally allows two years to file a personal injury lawsuit (La. C.C. art. 3493.1). Injuries before that date fall under the former one-year period. Deadlines can be missed while you are still treating, so talk with a lawyer early.

What if the other driver says the wreck was partly my fault?

Louisiana uses comparative fault (La. C.C. art. 2323). Your recovery can be reduced by your share of fault, and under the rule in effect January 1, 2026, a person found 51% or more at fault cannot recover. Insurance adjusters often try to shift blame, which is one reason to get advice before you give a statement.

Should I give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurance company?

Talk with an attorney first. The adjuster works for the insurance company, and what you say in a recorded statement can be used to dispute or reduce your claim.

Do I need to see a doctor if I feel fine?

Yes. Some injuries, like concussions and back or neck injuries, may not show up right away. Getting checked promptly protects your health, and gaps in treatment are often used by insurers to argue an injury is not serious.

What does it cost to hire you?

The consultation is free, and there are no fees unless we win. We handle personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis. We cover all case expenses, and if we don’t win, you won’t owe us anything.
